Painting is so much FUN!

I love how other people can paint their walls and it looks fantastic. Me...well lets just say, I have no color coordination. Sometimes I can hit the nail on the head and then their are those other times...........

I purchased the house approximately 3 1/2 years ago. At that time all the walls were painted white. White walls now just ain't cutting it! I need color.

I love the colors my friend has in her house, she said she purchased her paint from Lowes. I visited that store a few times trying to make up my mind what I wanted to do. The colors she gave me apparently are no longer available. I looked at every color swatch remotely resembling her colors. Tam-e had painted the boys bathroom a Baked Clay. In the store, I decided I liked the Faded Clay better. It almost looks like the Baked Clay. The difference Tam-e tells me is the Baked Clay has more or a red tint to it and the Faded Clay has more of an orange tint. (That's what she gathered from viewing the photos I had taken.)

I started behind the refrigerator and under the kitchen cabinets. (This did not look like my friends color nor Tam-e's color.) Leaving it on one or two nights wouldn't hurt, maybe I'll get use to it. (It has started to grow on me.) But now what do I do with the other wall, it looks so dull and lifeless.

And then the brainy idea came to me. I'll texture paint it! The top will be the texture with the bottom to be the Faded Clay with a white chair railing to divide the two sections. Sounds great! It sounded great, but looked bad. So off to Home Depot to purchase their paint. This time I chose a color in a picture I had hanging on the wall. It's still not what I really would like, but it sure looks a whole lot better than before.

The above is right after I finished painting with the Faded Clay paint. Depending upon the light determines the color you see.

Here the wall is primed, waiting on the second coat of paint. It's almost back to the original color. Just a little darker than before.
Um???? What's my next paint project?
Maybe I should correct the family room paint job before I move on to something else.

Um...I would have to agree with your last couple of statements. I think you should really consider changing the color in the family room. I personally don't like the minty green. If it had some black specks in it, it would remind me mint chocolate chip ice cream and I hate that stuff! Plus I don't think the color looks that great with your furniture. The great thing about paint is that you can change it and it only takes a couple of hours!

The game plan was to make slip covers for the furniture. At this point, I'm open for suggestions for the color in the family room. I can't stand that color that's in there. I thought about repainting it a darker color green with a glaze.

Green? why green? Well, I mean if you are going to cover your furniture I guess that wouldn't be a bad color but if not you almost need a blue in there. Green like my bath off the kitchen is nice!!! Oh I could live in that room!

Good Morning my painting friend!

I love the clay color!

If you are going with green, would you consider more of a sage green to keep in with the "earthy" clay color?

I'm jealous that you can paint your walls. We are in the same old 100 year old house with the old plastered and wallpapered walls. I have a pile of wallpaper samples in front of me now (not much I can do with the broken leg). I'm trying to find something that is a neutral color and resembles paint.

I am not a very good decorater. I don't know trends or colors or designs. I love watching those kinds of shows on HGTV but none of it sinks into my brain.

In all my excitement of finding your blog earlier in the month, I forgot to wish you a Happy Birthday!

Email and tell me where you all are now.

I LOVE the modeling picture!

Oh, and tell me about Tammy spelling her name Tam'e. I thought it was just a blog thing but it looks like that is her everyday spelling....very cool! Maybe I will start being "Les-le"

She is still so cute and her family is just beautiful. It appears that you are very close. Val and I are too. We are blessed!

Chad and I are close too but the long distance makes it a bit difficult sometimes. It's hard to believe he has been in North Carolina since l994!!

Okay, I have been sitting here for about an hour now and my leg is starting to swell...bummer. I really need a laptop!

Have a wonderful weekend~
love ya

Oh, may I reccommend just buying slip covers. Less work! Remember Aunt Jean said she made one and she would never do it again! :)

Slip covers would probably be best. Honestly, do they still make them? And can I find what color I'm looking for?

I've reupholstered a chair before. It was fun at the time, but I'm not so sure I would like to do it again. It probably goes without saying, I wouldn't like making the covers for my furniture now. JC Penney here I come.....

Who deleted their comment????

A darker green would be so much better than the lime green that is in there now.

I'll probably wait until I can have the windows open to do anything with that room. Stacy wasn't happy with the smell while I painted the kitchen. Or maybe I can do that when she goes on another skiing trip. Is it this weekend? I will have to check that out.

I know, maybe you would like to come and help me paint? When do the kids have spring break? Are they going to Bob & Laura's that week? Would you like to come visit for a day or two while they are gone?

Well, I would like to come and visit. I could help you with the painting. I haven't made any plans for the kids yet for spring break. I know Gram Winnie wanted the boys to come and stay for a couple of days. I would have the girls unless they went to stay over at Bob and Lauras. Ashlyn would have to have spring break at the same time so she could help watch them.
Back to the slip covers, yes they make them. That is what I wish I had done with my couch! I just had the brainy idea to do it myself. Why JC Penney? YOu might be able to find them someplace cheaper. What colors are you thinking about? Would you cover all your furniture? Check out Target. A lot of times you might be able to get them on clearance.

Oh, and I deleted Sam's comment cuz now he has his own blog and he can comment for himself without using my name
