My very own Rachel Ray

Just recently I was able to spend some time with my daughter Tam-e & her family. It was a grand weekend. I honestly hated to come home. (I always hate to come home.) I threatened that if she had a mother-in-law suite, I'd live with them.

I worked all day that Friday, I was able to leave work an hour early due to the fact I had been there since 10 a.m. And we weren't busy.

Saturday morning, Tam-e & I went for a massage. That was very nice & relaxing. Of course, the hour never lasts long enough. (Two hours would be ideal.) After it was all over, I felt like I was in a daze. All too soon it was back to reality.

Here is our meal on Saturday. Bread with black raspberry dipping vinegar. (I think that's what it is.) The meal was cabbage, carrots and something else, with chicken. It was Yummo!!!! We went shopping after our massage. Sunday was another planned event day and I wanted to purchase an outfit. After several stores, we both found something new.

I can only remember once, maybe twice ever going to a dinner theater. This time, I had a choice of going in the evening or brunch. I chose brunch. (That way the day would seem longer.) We watched West Side Story. Both the brunch and acting were very enjoyable. I would like to do that again.

(Every once in awhile I see things that I think Tam-e might like to have. I found an angel food cake pan at Goodwill for a $1.00. I couldn't pass it up. I gave it to her while she was here for Easter, but she for got it. She then had to wait longer to make that angel food cake.)

The recipe is one of those that just give you the basics......like just...."add flour". (The cake recipe has "add vanilla". But it doesn't tell you when to add it.) Most generally, I always forget.

My mother had passed away long before I ever decided to make an angel food cake. So I was not sure how to make one. Trial & error is usually how we all learn. It helps having someone there to teach you though.

The lesson begins...........We began making the cake, placed it in the oven.................30 minutes had gone by........the top was a nice golden brown.......Yes, it was done! Or at least we thought so. We turned it upside down to cool a bit. The middle was still squishy....... So, we put it back into the pan and into the oven to bake a little longer. If you didn't know we had a slight problem, you would have never guessed there was a problem. It still tasted just as good!

Tam-e sliced the cake in half. Inside she put strawberries & whipped topping. And then she iced it with whipped topping.

Doesn't the cake look delicious? It was!

She looks like she squishing the cake big time, doesn't she?
Sunday or Monday night, she decided we needed to make another cake. Out came the eggs. She started to throw away the yolks. Not good!
So I made noodles. Can't let those eggs go to waste!

Here she reminds me of my sister Jean.
(The pink outfit is dress rehearsal. Now we're all dressed up and filming the show!)
She continually tries new recipes. Sometimes her family isn't overly thrilled with them, but they still eat it. Well....maybe.
I told her she will have her own cooking show one day!
Now doesn't she look like the next Rachel Ray? Or Ina Garten, maybe even Paula Deen.

Monday was a busy day shopping for flowers, digging up the flower bed and replanting it. I was so tired and sore that I decided that I would stay the night and come home Tuesday morning.
(For dinner........Haystacks. Want to know that recipe.......contact Tam-e!)
Tuesday morning I arrived at work on time. But by noon, I was pooped. Working from open to close definitely makes for a long day. (Which is every Tuesday & Wednesday, but when you drive two hours first and then work.......what can I say.)
Can hardly wait for the next get together with my daughter & her family. It's always an adventure and most definitely FUN!!!
Tam-e.....keep cooking & tweaking those new recipes.
Next thing you know.....your name will be in lights!
Thank you for a wonderful weekend, the massage & dinner theater.
Thank Bobby for getting the movies to watch...P.S. I Love You & Mad Money

Target Practice

Sunday I went with some friends to shoot some rounds.

We had gone to a farm way outside of town.

The targets weren't that far from where you were standing or sitting, whichever you preferred. I started out sitting and then ended up standing.

I was given a 22/45 Rugar semi-automatic pistol (that's what it had on the barrel). The other I used was a revolver. After shooting the revolver a few times, I decided I liked the semi-automatic best.

Even though the target wasn't that far from you, 15 feet I believe. There were some who missed the paper entirely. The one lady who went before me did miss the paper. All I could think of.....this is going to be hard.

I was nervous at first, but it soon became quite fun. There were people there who taught us what to look for while taking aim. I was told I did quite well. I can say I was consistant. It seemed like I hit the same spot over and over again, mostly close to the bullseye. That was exciting.

I did so well my friends called me Annie Oakley.
Whatever.........

Common Sense

The topic of discussion the other day was.....Common Sense.

Are you born with it? OR
Is it learned.

If you don't have any, how can you get some?

What do you think?

What a nice looking family.

When I started this post it was Thursday, April 17th. I couldn't get the photo to upload so I quit.
Today is Monday, April 21st. Finally......the photo is finally attached to the post. YEA!!!!

Tomorrow will mark four weeks since Alea was born. I swear she changes every time I see her.

I visit BJ & Anjie usually on Thursday. This time I took my camera along with me. I only took a couple photos right before I left.

After feeding her, she wasn't satisfied with me holding her, but she was definately satisfied being with her mom.

Rainy Day

It's a cold, rainy, lazy day. I've had my nap and now it's time to do laundry, and clean up the kitchen. It's hard to leave, Leave It to Beaver show. It must be a LITB marathon weekend.

I was to dig up some Iris's over at BJ & Anjie's, but I haven't gotten myself off the chair to do so. Maybe Monday. Or when it gets a little warmer and dryer.

With these past couple days off, it seems like I'm on vacation. I'm liking it!
